With CleanChoice Energy you don’t need to install solar panels or even own your home. As a renewable energy company, our mission since day one has been to make clean energy accessible for everybody. We expand access to clean energy through our clean electricity, community solar, and offset products.

Our Story

Growing up in an industrial region of Pennsylvania, Tom Matzzie, our founder and CEO, witnessed the impact of air pollution— caused by burning coal— on the health and safety of his community. Eager to take action, as an adult he installed solar panels for his home, but found the process to be unnecessarily difficult. While enthusiastic about rooftop solar it became a trudge through permits, site visits, and meetings with contractors. Tom wanted to make clean energy easier.

Clean Air for Everyone

Tom knew there must be a better way for more people to choose clean energy. He decided to create a solution that would make it easier for homeowners and renters alike to access clean energy—and the renewable energy company CleanChoice Energy began.

Since then, we’ve grown to serve hundreds of thousands of customers through our Clean Electricity Plans and Community Solar. Today, we’re proud to be able to offer 100% pollution-free, wind and solar energy through a process that only takes a few minutes to set up.
